The Journey Box

Happy Monday!! Well, I'm sitting here enjoying the sunshine and waiting for the big, ole snowstorm that's supposed to start tonight! How can it be so pretty now and then WHAM! it turns so yucky! I do NOT like snow and the older I get the less I like it... Ohio in winter... what am I thinking???!!! I finished my special gift for my sister who will most likely start her chemo tomorrow... I made the box and have Tilda sitting on a fence... her little purse is all glittered up, it reminds me of the purses my Grandma used to have... I cut the flowers on my Cricut and added buttons and stickles. Each card inside has a small, inspirational saying... my hope is that if she is feeling down or needs a bit of encouragment, that she'll pull one out and enjoy it... I told her I won't always be able to be there, but I hope that when she looks at them, she'll know my heart is with her!!! I had to leave it on her back porch (enclosed!) because my brother-in-law took her out for the day to get her mind off of tomorrow, so she'll have it when she gets home... I so hope she likes it and doesn't think it's corny...
Matthew is starting to get a cold, rosey cheeks, runny nose, sneezes, but gosh darn it, he doesn't slow down at all!! I'll probably get it from him and be sick for days!!!! Enjoy your week and be safe and warm wherever you are!!!
Hugs,
Teri

Edited to add: My sister just called and loves the box!! She cried, which I figured she would... I had packaged it in a little brown sack with a doily tied with ribbon, and she has even saved that!! LOL!! I am so glad it will bring her comfort!!!!! And this is what happens when your art table is a mess... I found the last card that I made... I KNEW there were seven... yikes!!! It's at the top of this post...

Busy...busy...and candy from Jacque!!

Hi all! This week has been flying by... we had calling hours for my friend's mother who passed away last Thursday. I made the memorial board for her and was happy with the way it turned out! They always take longer than I think they should, but everyone said it was beautiful! I had to make more sympathy cards this week, one of our good customers at my husband's shop also passed away, so I didn't invent the wheel, just went with the one that I posted below! Very quick to make!!
I'm working on a special project for my sister. She has been diagnosed with fallopian tube cancer, very rare, but it sounds like the doctors are optimistic... she will probably start chemo Feb. 1, so I'm making a box filled with cards that have inspirational sayings on them so she can pull one out if she is feeling a little down. I have the box and four of the little cards done, I'll post them when they are finished! I take such inspiration from a wonderful artist, Jacque Beddingfield, who battled breast cancer with such dignity and optimism! I know I've mentioned her before, you just really need to see her work!!
And speaking of Jacque, she has MORE awesome candy to give away!! Make sure you stop at her blog:

Hope to be back with project very soon!!!

A Simple Sympathy Card...

Good Friday Morning!!! There is more snow in the air and on the ground and I must say, I'm pretty tired of it all!! I was getting Kaitlyn ready to run some errands yesterday and oh, how I miss the days of just grabbing some sandals and heading out the door!!! No hats, coats, boots or a little one who likes to run into the snow and then my car!!! LOL!!! I am ready for summer, or at least sunny, warm weather with gorgeous blue skies.... okay, summer!!! hee hee!!
Our new year has begun with losses already. A friend's Dad passed away and Sunday we learned that a good friend who had moved to Kentucky passed away from a heart attack! Greg was such a fun, happy guy who would do anything for you! I feel so bad.... and now, one of my special friends is waiting and watching her mother pass away, she is in hospice and they keep telling her that she won't make it through the day... it's going on day three and Hope is just beside herself. She has asked me to make the memorial board... it's an honor, but one that I don't enjoy doing. So I've started making sympathy cards... looks like I'll need a few....
This one is very simple, I embossed a panel with a Sizzix folder, added a seam binding bow and another smaller embossed panel, this is a small Cuttlebug folder, stamped "peace" on it and painted the raised portions with Shimmerz in angel wings.... simple, but I think it works.
My daughter in law has a snow day today ( go figure!) so I have no kiddos. It's laundry day and I have a ton to catch up on!!!
Enjoy your day and tell your friends how much they mean to you!!!
Hugs,
Teri

A Maggie Thank You!

Hi friends!! I feel like I'm starting the New Year off right!! I am actually entering the Magnolia-licious Challenge and I'm NOT racing to get it posted at the last minute!! Yay me!!! LOL!!! You have to check out the challenge blog, oh my gosh, the GORGEOUS design team work! Outstanding!!!
I've had this little cutie colored up for some time and I'm so sorry, I don't know the name, the image was sent to me by a very generous person!! I think she's so sweet, just sitting there all prim and proper!!! You can't tell by the picture, but her little shoes are sparkly with my stardust gel pen! I added a teeny-tiny little bow in her hair and glittered up her dress ribbon. The three panels are embossed with Cuttlebug folders and the label is a Nestibilities labels eight. The double bow is made with twill tape and I added a Prima rose. Tilda is colored in Prismacolor markers and pencils. I am going to try to finish my cards on the inside, so I did remember to do that here, nothing really special, but it does give a little fancier look.
Thank you so much for stopping by and having a little peek at my work! Now it's off to see what Matthew is up to... when a five year old is quiet for too long, you need to check it out!! LOL!!
Have a wonderful day!!!!!!
Hugs,
Teri
